Professor Lena Sanci
Professor Lena Sanci is the Head of Department of General Practice, Director of Teaching and Learning, Chair of the Victorian Practice Based Research Network (VicReN) and co-lead of the Department’s Children and Young People’s Research Stream, University of Melbourne. She has two decades of experience researching the potential of primary care and technologies to improve the health of young people through re-orientating primary care systems toward a preventive care approach of risk detection and early intervention, and assisting young people to navigate the health system with online tools. More recently she has been exploring the potential of health and education interface to promote health literacy and universal access to comprehensive primary health care for young people through the Victorian Doctors in Secondary Schools initiative for which she is an expert advisor. Lena’s research team also has a focus on an integrated primary care response to vulnerable children including those in out of home care.
